Kids school is fairly empty. Lots of kids decided to skip. Not like that’s going to stop the world.
There are no blueberries getting picked in west Michigan, normally that takes place in the fall, just sayin.
My job takes me to manufacturing facilities that employ lot of immigrant labor. I have had no trouble finding a parking spot today. Some people have shown up. Some are going home early.
I work from home, so I don’t know if any local restaurants are closed.
I will let you know if the taco truck fails to show up at the construction site next door.
I noticed there was a bit more traffic this morning. Unsure of correlation, but for a second I thought I was going to miss a light...

So far, today is excellent, and living without illegals is the best thing that has happened to me since they dramatically expanded the flavors of Doritos.

Our machine shop is staffed exclusively with Hispanic machine operators and everyone is working today. Mostly older, hard working types. I’m not surprised. Though my Ecuadorian draftsman has had a bit of a chip on his shoulder lately...
Schools are sending home letters here esp in the illegal ridden areas to warn this is not an excused absense—big deal.
I’m in LA where normally one out of two people you see is an immigrant, and half of those are illegal.

I’m confused too. As a naturalized immigrant do I get a free day off or not. Should I check with the German immigrant society ?.
It was reported some years ago that San Antonio, TX tried something similar. The stores, not just restaurants, reported that profits were down 13% and thefts were down by 59%. Just saying...
