Now that's interesting. I don't find abortion something that people typically ever "change their mind" on. Either its just different demographics skewing the polls or something good is happening.

Demographically, the Baby Boom generation is now finally beginning to be old enough to become first time grandparents. First time grandparents are traditionally the most conservative Age of any generation. So we've got another 30 years where the Baby Boomers will grow progressively more conservative.

And then there is technology. The new 4d sonograms clearly display living children in the womb, rather than the "lumps of tissue" that were claimed by the pro-abortion crowd 3 decades ago when Roe v Wade was first written. The more people who see these sonograms, the more people become pro-life.

There is also a change in society. An unwed mother is far less of a social stigma or pariha. Likewise, adoption and/or borth control are viewed more favorably by society today than 30 years ago.

The standard reply of Democrat politicians, like Kerry, is "I am personally against abortion, but I strongly support a woman's right to choose." Putting aside the fact that women have chosen 40,000,000 abortions, I would like to ask someone like Kerry, "Why are you against abortion?" If it is a good thing, why are you against it? If it is not a good thing, why do you want it to be freely available?

In a moment of candor, Kerry answers: "I get to fill my elections coffer with blood-stained money from abortionists when I get headlines such as:

Planned Parenthood Action Fund Announces Endorsement of John Kerry "

The choices should be worded "pro-life" or "pro-abortion". Pro-choice is a non-commital view and reflects a "kill a baby, don't kill a baby", it has no effect on me.

In fact, Kerry adds, the more abortions, the more money from abortionists do I get.

Doesn't choice sound ever so much better than murder or death?

You want "sounds-good feels-good"..., my wife used to work at an infertility clinic. Typically they'd "plant" about seven fertilized eggs. After a time when they knew which were most viable, they would perform a "selective reduction." How's that for prettying-up five or six murders?

Which is why I could never support fertility clinics.

This poll says things are flat as follows:

Pro-death 45 +- 2
Pro-life 43 +- 2
mix 6 +- 2
not sure 6 +-2

The 54/38, prodeath/prolife in 7/00 was probably effected by over representation of prodeath, because if that is included, the std for their response becomes +-4.

that's 100 +/- 2 over those years and +/- 2 is the best the poll will do.

When I worked at a hospital in 71 and 72 abortions were called D and C's. They were performed openly in a county run hospital and before Roe vs. Wade. I saw little pieces of babies going down tubes to the vaccuum collector. Up until then I had fallen for the liberal line on abortion but that changed me.

As a woman I have never considered abortion a "right". Voting is a right. Religious freedom is a right. Free speech is a right. Abortion is killing the innocent. I don't have the "right" to kill the innocent.

I don't find abortion something that people typically ever "change their mind" on.

Sure they do, there's been a 9% increase since 2000 due to the great emphasis by different pro-life organizations to educate others about abortion, and the Bush administration for its pro-life commitment.

GW Bush has: (this is from one of your posts, Southack, thanks.)

- Banned Partial Birth Abortion

- Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy

- Stopped foreign aid that would be used to fund abortions.

- Supported and upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals

- Signed E.O. reversing Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act

This poll says it's flat (#12). For a look at what mixed means and more detail, see...
