WASHINGTON, June 7 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Senator John Kerry released the following statement today on the crisis in Darfur:

"The world did not act in Rwanda, to our eternal shame. Now we are at another crisis point this time in Sudan. The Sudan's western Darfur region demands the world's immediate attention and action. Rampages against defenseless civilians by government- sponsored militia have caused the deaths of an estimated 30,000 people, and more than one million have been made homeless. The Administrator of the US Agency for International Development estimated last week that at least 300,000 more will die and up to one million could die if the Sudanese government continues to terrorize civilians and impede humanitarian access. The United Nations and human rights experts agree that the government of Sudan is committing crimes against humanity and that the risk of genocide is real.

"I believe that the United States and the international community must act immediately to apply effective pressure on the Government of Sudan to rein in its militia proxies and to immediately provide unrestricted access for humanitarian aid and aid workers. We must also act swiftly to initiate negotiations aimed at securing a political settlement to the conflict. And because there is no guarantee that the Sudanese government will relent, we must also start planning now for the possibility that the international community, acting through the United Nations, will be forced to intervene urgently to save the lives of the innocent.

"The United States, working with the governments of the region and our allies in the United Kingdom and Norway has recently made significant progress towards a final peace agreement between the Sudanese government and its southern opposition. While this is a welcome development, the peace agreement will be fundamentally compromised if the world stands by while the government threatens the lives and livelihoods of other citizens of Sudan."

It sounds strange for a person who has suspended his campaigning for the week.

Yep, and if Kerry were Prez he would go in, stay for a little while, make sure the army had their hands schackled so they get picked off and demoralized, then he would leave and declare it another Vietnam.

Wait!

What?

Huh?

Kerry wants the UN to actually DO something? (Well, sure: that's his answer to EVEY international/national problem.)

Kerry thinks the UN will actually DO something effective to prevent the problem/solve the problem? (Well, duh. Hasn't EVERY UN effort solved the problem?)

Hmmmmn.

Has ANY UN effort solved ANY problem since the agency began? (Remember, the Korean War was successful ONLY because the US fought it basically alone, and only after the USSR was absent for the critical authorizing vote!)

Actually it sounds pretty typical. Not that this isn't a problem but it is a matter of priorities - something the Democrats have a hard time with. Kerry is trying to manufacture an issue and position himself to say "I told you so" if the press picks up on it.

Yeah, we really need to bring this before the UN Human Rights Commission!

Oops, Sudan is on that commission. Now what is Flipper gonna propose?

TYPICAL RAT!! The POS doesn't want to interfere when our SECURITY is at risk, but he is more than willing to shed our blood for a SOCIAL EXPERIMENT, just to appease certain ethnicities in this country.

We can not...and should not....try to save the world. This is not our concern. Period.

/rant over...for now

Have any of you read this? Read it again. He just said that Hillary will not be the VP candidate.

He just smacked Clinton in the face with the Rwanda comment.

CAPTION THIS (US Walks out of UN) May 2004

Ambassador Sichan Siv, the United States Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and a female aide, walk out of the group's meeting to protest a vote giving Sudan a third term on the UN's Human Rights Commission, the world body's human rights watchdog, Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the UN in New York. Siv called the vote an absurdity.

Screw the UN and screw John Kerry's calls for military action.

If any Black person in the USA believes a word John Kerry says, they have a screw loose upstairs. I wonder when Black folk are finally gonna get it! They have been screwed every which way by their Democrat slave masters. What fools! And, they have no idea what slaughter awaits them from their Muslim brothers. Shucks, Osama and his boys will make "Whitey" look like a saint!!!! Vote for John Kerry and seal your own doom!

Am I reading this wrong. I thought Kerry believed that all the world problems must be addressed by the UN. UN PEACE KEEPERS that is. I detect another flip flop.

It's about time we (US) inform the UN and the world that we are not going to lift a finger until the UN shows some balls.

Sound strange...nah, it's typical Kerry.

Mr. Kerry, where were your concerns for years that we contacted you and Clinton about the slaughter happening in Sudan?

Mr. Kerry, where were your concerns when President Reagan pleaded with all of you to notice the slaughter's in the Sudan in a speech he made circa 1999?

"Oops, Sudan is on that commission"

If for no other reason than this, the UN has lost ALL credibility. And there are plenty of other reasons.

Question 1: Pardon my obvious ignorance, but isn't that what we just did in Iraq?

Question 2: Can he define for me "intervene urgently"? (Follow up for the grammar police: Why does he put the adjective after the verb? Why isn't it urgently intervene?)

Question 3: AND WHAT IF SUDAN TELLS THE U.N. TO PACK SAND?!

Now that all the Christians have been killed or run off they want to do something. They want to protect the muslims from other muslims. Unreal...
