Skip to comments. These Washington restaurants will close for the ‘Day Without Immigrants’ protest

Immigrants in Washington are planning to participate in the Day Without Immigrants protest on Thursday. As the day approaches, the list of area restaurants closing out of solidarity or necessity continues to grow.
The nationwide effort, buoyed by social media, is meant to highlight the impact immigrants have on the country on a daily basis. It's a response to President Trump's efforts to crack down on undocumented immigrants, enact extreme vetting and build a wall along the border with Mexico.

Participants are encouraged to stay home from school and work, which includes many restaurants and bars. Here's a list of the closings and service changes announced so far.

Good, that labels those restaurants as those who are knowingly hiring illegals.
If we had REAL journalists, they’d look into the background of those workers. Do they have SS cards? Are they paying taxes? Are they paying for Dorkbama the Muslim eunuch care?
I’m all for the Year Without Illegal Aliens.
Then the Decade.
Then the Century....
Places that Conservatives may well decide not to patronize anymore are self-identifying. How considerate.
Friday morning bright and early, ICE should be at the listed locations to do some random checking.
Fire every dang gone of them.
Stupid fat fingers ... “Fire every dang one of them”
Great news not one McDonald's or Taco Bell is on the list!! Eat up libbie cities!!
Government Employees won’t be able to load-up on calories and expense it back to the taxpayer.
Sounds like another WIN to me.
make a note of what closes and then tell your friends, neighbors, work pals why they are closed , and then boycott them . Force them out of business,.
No jobs they go back home, and the owner loses money.
I hope Comet Pizza is one of them.
Give the pedo’s victims a rest.
Chick Filet is open at every Oklahoma location! Take that you commies!
These “strikes” are so silly. If they had a Day Without “Immigrants”, no one would be working. Everyone comes from an immigrant. What they really mean, but don’t want to say, is that its a Day Without ILLEGAL Immigrants.
DC has a lot of young black guys who can’t find work. Maybe these restaurants....
“Day Without Immigrants”...If there were no immigrants, legal or illegal, in these jobs, someone else would have the job...It just wouldn’t go away...
This is really stupid when you think about it....
Fire them all...Someone else will be glad to take the job...
ICE needs to be at those restaurants on Friday morning, when the illegals get paid.
The local news in Nashville was all giddy (very pro-illegals here) about a local janitorial company )think they called it TSSI?)who had so many employees out today they couldnt fulfill their contract with the local Tyson plant. Therefore the Tyson plant is having to delay opening today. In my opinion, ICE should immediately visit Tyson and get the name of this other company then show up first thing tomorrow morning. Along with that, Tyson should fire them until they can prove via E-Verify ALL their employees are legal. Of course, by then, their competition who hires legally would have gotten the contract.

I just tweeted the article to the ICE and Border & Customs accounts.
Don’t they mean “day without ILLEGAL immigrants”?
A great list of greasy spoons to avoid in the future.
Does this mean iliegal aliens will take the day off from committing crimes?
No, only if they LEAVE THE USA.
“Everyone comes from an immigrant.”
You can define anything out of existence.
Here’s one of the restaurants participating. Write them a review! https://www.facebook.com/oyamel/
Since we are “a nation of immigrants”, anybody, with the exception of Native American, who goes to work today is an idiot. It’s “immigrants” day.

Legal Citizens:Doing the job illegals shouldn’t be doing in the first place.
LOL! I don’t recognize one of the “restaurants” on the list.
My family has been US natives going back 10 generations.
I bet the Tyson plant has their share of illegal aliens.
No, they mean a day without illegal aliens.
OK, I won't say anything about Beringia, then.
Hmm, only one on the list I’ve eaten at is Jaleo. Met a friend there for tapas. I wouldn’t say it was that remarkable.
It would be great for the usual patrons of ALL of those places mentioned to take a year off from eating there.
I would love the see this foolishness backfire in the owner’s faces, especially in their wallets.
My, what a pretty array of MEXICAN BAGPIPES!
ICE should now go in and investigate WHO they are employing.
I used to like Bub & Pops. They have good food and they lost a son in Afghanistan last year but except for the chef and his parents, the guys in the kitchen are all foreign. If they care more for political gestures and employing shady people to handle my food then I’ll take my money elsewhere. The kid at Subway is stupid and moves like an elderly sloth but at least I can be confident that he’s had all his shots and isn’t carrying typhoid.
Hopefully, rush hour traffic won’t be bad today. :-)
Don’t tell Reddit:TheDonald that Pepe is a traitor.
All of these are hole-in-the-wall or newcomer, proprietor-owned small joints. No big deal. Let them lose money. Serves them right.
Well, now you know who’s spitting in your food.
Except for Friday when it opens at 11:30, Comet Ping Pong doesn’t open until 5pm on weekdays. Kids are still in school and no normal working people would go there for lunch anyway, right? Nope, nothing strange going on here...
Wow—you would think lunchtime in DC would be prime pizza selling time.
BTTT for your comment.
yep the only place I go to for fast food, if you can even call it fast food. Well that and Publix subs.
There are plenty of restaurants in D.C. These are restaurants we’ll be avoiding.
