Roger Stone Blames Reince Priebus For White House Leaks, Says The 'Little Man' Has Got To Go
Follow News.com ^ | 6 hours ago | Hayley Miller

Posted on 02/16/2017 6:17:30 PM PST by drewh

Republican operative Roger Stone wants President Donald Trump’s chief of staff, Reince Priebus, ousted from the White House immediately, claiming he is responsible for the extraordinary number of leaks plaguing the Trump administration.

Stone, a former adviser and longtime friend to Trump, suggested Priebus also played a role in Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn’s recent split from the administration. Flynn resigned as Trump’s national security adviser on Monday, following reports that he had discussed easing U.S. sanctions against Russia with the Russian ambassador just days after former President Barack Obama imposed the penalties.

“It’s time for the little man to go,” Stone said on Thursday, referring to Priebus during an interview on “The Joe Piscopo Show” in which he predicted a massive shake-up in the White House.

“At the end of the day, you have leaks ... about the president wearing a tattered bathrobe and watching television,” he said, referring to a New York Times report describing Trump’s White House rituals. “Those kinds of leaks are not coming from loyalists. They’re coming from Reince Priebus’ people, and he must bear the responsibility for them.”

Stone is one of at least four Trump associates facing an investigation by law enforcement and intelligence agencies after Flynn’s resignation and a New York Times report alleging “repeated contacts” between Trump’s campaign and the Kremlin. Stone has repeatedly denied the accusations.

Meanwhile, the Republican strategist ― who appeared to take no issue with WikiLeaks’ release of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s private emails ahead of the 2016 election ― now wants leakers to be punished. And he’s branded Priebus a leaker, though it’s unclear that there is any evidence to support his claim.

Stone also predicted things would end badly for the “establishment wing” of the White House.

“I have no doubt that the pragmatists, the establishment wing of the White House staff, played a role in the downfall of General Flynn, and now they think they can do the same thing to [Trump advisers] Stephen Miller ... and Stephen Bannon,” Stone said. “But I don’t think that’s going to happen.”

“This is going to be like the French Revolution,” he added. “In the beginning, the guys who get their heads chopped off, some people were cheering. By the end, everybody’s getting their head chopped off.”

Other Trump confidantes have also questioned Priebus’s place in the White House. Trump defender and Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy bashed the chief of staff on Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources.”

“I think Reince Priebus ― good guy, well-intentioned, but he clearly doesn’t know how the federal agencies work,” said Ruddy. “I think the president is not getting the backup he needs in the operation of the White House ... that you would have with a stronger White House chief of staff.”

Breitbart claimed in a story on Tuesday that “multiple sources” within the White House are calling for Priebus to get the boot after the chaotic rollout of Trump’s executive order on travel and immigration, which federal courts have now suspended. Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist and the former executive chairman of Breitbart, denied the reports on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Trump continued to sing his counsel’s praises on Monday, telling reporters that “Reince is doing a great job. Not a good job. A great job.”

I think there is only one guy I want to hear from on these matters, and that is Trump himself. All other “insiders” need to just STFU.

L-R Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and the late Lee Atwater, architect of George H.W. Bush’s 1988 victory.

Picture was from the Early 1980’s I believe, when all three were working for Reagan.

Stone’s name as being “under investigation” would be the content of a FISA warrant from the FISC. The very leaking of this, whether true or not, is a CRIMINAL act. Citing it in this “article” especially from huffing puffing pooh— doubles down on the criminal sourcing. Add them and this writer to the FBI target list of the “deep state” leakers of obamaumao.

One thing. My own experience observing the investigation of leaks is that there is a great deal of deliberate misdirection in where leaks are coming from.

So, if it is “obvious” that it is coming from Priebus or “obvious” that it is the FBI, you can bet it is not.

I trust Trump.

He is a wily player who is not cowed by these idiots. When there were leaks about him meeting intelligence officials he deliberately did not tell any of his own staff to demonstrate that the leaks were coming from the intelligence side.

Good points.

I guess the same crime would occur if the ‘being under investigation’ part wasn’t true.

Roger Stone is a snake-in-the-grass. Pres. Trump dumped him and he (Stone) is trying to keep his name in the news with outrageous comments because he's trying to remain relevant and keep bread on his table.

He's been described as "the Lord of Mischief" and "the Prince of Republican sleaze". He now calls himself a Libertarian. He's eccentric and describes himself as a "strategist" and a "consultant" which, translated, means he's out of work and looking for a gig.

Believe NOTHING, NADA that this weirdo says.

Yes, indeed. Leaking the contents of a FISA warrant as such is a major federal crime. Inventing the contents of a FISA warrant... would not be.

I have serious doubts that Preibus is the leaker. Not because I think he's loyal per se, but because he has too much to lose. Chief of Staff is a hugely important position. He in effect controls access to the President of the United States and by extension is one of the most powerful people in the entire world. What does he have to gain by risking his position and his freedom by leaking details of meetings and calls? The Bush family will send him a thank you note? Mitt Romney will have him over to dinner? Mark Levin will give him a free subscription to whatever his little TV network is called?

I think Preibus as Chief of Staff was a mistake because he's not really a friend of the President and so far he's been extremely ineffective and so he's a crappy Chief Of Staff. But I don't think he's a self destructive idiot.

more of a weasel. No doubt he meets with many different ‘smoking men’ who give him his real orders.

It was a big mistake by Trump to hire this guy. Disasterous decision. And I am a huge Trump fan, supported him from day one, and still do. But why did he decide to go into this fight with one arm tied behind his back? I can only think his balls are even larger than I first thought.

Yep—Stone is a very colorful character who is a brilliant politico on one level, but has often ended up getting in his own way on another level. He generally has to end up being used on the outskirts of a campaign—just as Trump has used him.

It doesn’t, however, make him wrong in this case.
