Posted on 02/17/2017 4:48:07 AM PST by tcrlaf
While Rex Tillerson is on his first overseas trip as Secretary of State, his aides laid off staff at the State Department on Thursday.
Much of seventh-floor staff, who work for the Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources and the Counselor offices, were told today that their services were no longer needed.
These staffers in particular are often the conduit between the secretarys office to the country bureaus, where the regional expertise is centered. Inside the State Department, some officials fear that this is a politically-minded purge that cuts out much-needed expertise from the policy-making, rather than simply reorganizing the bureaucracy.
There are clear signals being sent that many key foreign policy portfolios will be controlled directly by the White House, rather than through the professional diplomats. Not a single State Department official was included in the White House meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week. Trumps son-in-law, Jared Kushner - who has no regional expertise or diplomatic experience - had a greater role in the meeting than the Senate-confirmed secretary of State.

The entrenched Academic Socialist Deep State beaurucrats are being cut out. These are the 7th floor "Untouchables" at State!
"There was a powerful group of very high-ranking STATE officials that some referred to as 'The 7th Floor Group' or 'The Shadow Government.' This group met every Wednesday afternoon to discuss the FOIA process, Congressional records, and everything CLINTON-related to FOIA/Congressional inquiries," the FBI's interview summary said. The Soros Billionaires have spent a LOT of money getting those people in place, and are not going to be happy about this!!
Re: Soros: Oh well....
Damn good more fire them all and the pick the ones who pass a lie-detector test to hire back.....FIRE THEM ALL!!!
If a criminal can pass a lie detector test, watch out...sociopath alert!!!
Outstanding news to kick off a Friday!
Obama Appointees Preventing Mattis From Rebuilding The Military, Says Armed Services Chair.
When will this be drained, come on folks! get to it!
I hope this is as YUGE as it sounds.
GWB was steadfast in not cleaning house of the disloyal, politicized staff put in by Clinton. Either he was in denial, or stupid, or complicit. I haven’t figured out which.
After GWB, I was beginning to think that perhaps it couldn’t be done, due to the President being hog-tied by various Civil Service regulations.
I love WINNING!
RE: Soros TOUGH !!!!
And now those Clintonistas, turned Obamabots, have been in place for 20 years. Many are now in positions where they cannot be fired. Trump/Tillerson need to identify those and take away their access to info. NOW.
GWB was establishment. Trump is a wrecking ball.
Now about the 1,000 that signed the protest letter about Pres Trumps travel review...
I really advice all FReepers to read the whole piece. You can definitely taste the salt of the flowing tears.
President Trump is a very fast learner.
“News You Won’t be Seeing on CNN/MSNBC”
I’m actually shocked that CBS is covering it.
It is amusing that because of building height restrictions in Washington DC the top floor of many agencies is the 7th floor, which is where the senior "leadership" is housed along with their political hangers on. Thus the 7th floor group is a common problem throughout government.
I agree with the “fire them all” sentiment. We need to hire people who are loyal to the American people and those who are fellow deplorables.
This could be a tool
Reassignment to positions not requiring that level of security access
Ordering office furniture to replace that stolen by Clinton, perhaps
“And now those Clintonistas, turned Obamabots, have been in place for 20 years. Many are now in positions where they cannot be fired.”
They can, however, be transferred to the “New” State Department Field Office Projects in Barrow, Galena, and Guam!
“Layoffs” is a loaded word. Are these just getting rid of remaining Obama political appointees or moving career types aligned with Obama out of these jobs and into another that is lower profile?
Good riddance !
This doesn't exactly give me any comfort at all.
This is the same Jared Kushner who retained JAMIE GORELICK as his attorney to advise him in matters related to potential conflicts of interest in his White House role.
One hopes that first their network and pc access and email accounts were frozen, and MPs were there to lock down their files and walk them out.
After outsider replacements are installed en masse throughout admin and the dept’s, they will notice any untoward activities and behaviors of the leftovers. Any leftover vermin will be in the light now, easily exposed.
Why is Soros not at room temperature.
Anyone who leaves Bush out of this equation makes a big mistake. His political flotsam and jetsam were no more qualified - you know, the folks who brought us deba'athification and the rise of the insurgency in Iraq. We are not fighting democrats here. We are fighting the uniparty. Don't forget it.
What an excellent way to begin a Friday, a big layoff of government workers.
There is only one person whose views about excluding the state department count and that is Rex Tillerson. If he thinks the WH is inteferring in his ability to do his job, he will let his displeasure be known and if it continues he will quit. But, as we find out, Trump spends a lot more time talking to his cabinet than people claim he does. The real whining is the lower level minions who are excluded and think they should be included. Like, this 7th floor group that was finally fired.
This is what I call draining the swamp.
We need to make deep cuts to the senior levels of the State Department, but this is a start. The State Department’s “experts” applauded and to some extent caused the Arab Spring. Their expertise led to the current situation in Syria, the refugee crisis in Europe and worldwide, the problems in Crimea and Ukraine, and the rest of the world Obama created. I’d rather have policy decided by the next 500 Home Depot customers than our top 500 holdovers at State.
Nice going, Rex. These firings facilitate Trump's Master Plan----nudging his yet-unnamed ambassadors to urge the respective countries to look into their govt's dealings w/ the Clintons and the nefarious Clinton Foundation:
<><> foreign govt donations to the Clinton Foundation,
<><> govt donations to Hillary's campaign (illegal),
<><> the Clintons meddling in foreign elections,
<><> big buck speeches,
<><> consulting gigs for Bill,
<><> insider business deals,
<><> deals for Clinton cronies and insiders...and so on.
These same ambassadors might also be nudged into looking into Soros' foreign activities. The buzz is Soros established "non-profits" in about 1000 foreign localities.
Soros numerous n/p's should be scrutinized as to an electronic/paper trail for money-laundering, tax-evasion, govt fraud....and so on.
Soros needs to be exposed.
Podesta-Soros Master Plan - How To Take Over America - 2008 And Beyond!
Common Sense Evaluation / FR Posted by gaggs
Wikileaks Email ID 59125 exposes Hillary's campaign manager, John Podesta, and George Soros Master Plan on how to take over America in 2008 and beyond!
Its all there in the memos, the whole scheme taking over the economy, protracted war, dividing Americans and controlling the media. (Excerpt) Read more at commonsenseevaluation.com ...
The crucial point here is that arch-villains Hillary, Podesta and Soros are linked together. Soros has been under the radar much too long.
Ah, this is the Wiki “Vault 7” that was being referred to. Vault 7 is the name of the seventh floor where the snakes dwell.
Sounds like some draining of the swamp is going on! Seriously, the idea behind protecting nonpartisan expert civil servants makes some sense, but if they are not nonpartisan, then the justification behind protecting them diminishes.
The grim reaper and father time are slacking off with Obama.
House Oversight Chairman Chaffetz refers Bryan Pagliano to DOJ for charges
Hope soros doesn’t drop dead of a heart attack.
“”Inside the State Department, some officials fear that this is a politically-minded purge that cuts out much-needed expertise from the policy-making, rather than simply reorganizing the bureaucracy.””
This is classic Washington Establishment smug delusion response. Would that be the “expertise” that brought us the deal with Iran? Or maybe the same “expertise” that has cost the American worker their livelihood through deals that only benefited special interest and Wall Street?
It is high time these self proclaimed untouchables felt the cold hard slap of reality and learned how the real world works.
We also now know why Bill Kristoll is throwing his snot bubble blowing tantrum in front of anyone still idiotic enough to listen to him. He knows the gravy train for him and his fellow Establishment leaches is coming to a long overdue grinding Halt.
Yesterday’s evisceration of the Main Stream Media’s press and now this? Your man M.A. Meddybemps may faint from all the WINNING!
That’s right. A polygraph works by measuring your physiological responses to stress, i.e. heart rate, breathing changes, etc on the theory that telling a lie crests stress, albeit maybe very small changes.
A sociopath or pathological liar actually enjoys lying and is not going to manifest the normal signs of stress. One of the reasons polygraph results are not admissible in court.
DRAIN THE SWAMP! DRAIN THE SWAMP! DRAIN THE ...
Uh -- whut?
My post addressed the specific point in the column about the role of Jared Kushner.
You know Jared Kushner, don't you? He's the son of that convicted criminal from New Jersey who has spent most of the last few decades as one of the state's biggest Democratic fundraisers.
It is so funny how different the comments are on CBS News.com from readers versus just about ANY and I mean ANY website out there many of us read.
I’m always absolutely amazed just how stacked user comments are on WaPo, NYT and CBS etc. When you get to any site outside the dinosaur media domains the comments are almost 80% anti-government/establishment and up to 70% conservative.
These comments, all anti-Trump, all pro state department.
I mean.... who is home drinking their coffee thinking of pro state department spin?
Is there one person, one unpaid person, one citizen that sits home and has a pro state department viewpoint of the world??????
"So what you do is you take the specifications from the customers and you bring them down to the software engineers?"
I got a tour of the seventh floor when I was ten years old.
I saw a lot of the various offices, conference rooms, the big reception room for the SOS back then around 1970.
The security wasn’t so tight back then and I remember going all over the building even down in the basement where they had a room with old fashioned telephone switchboards in it.
Trump said he wanted to protect American jobs (not Ivy League jobs).
Removing these traitors is a must at every level.
They can all work remotely from Portal, North Dakota.
Thomas Jefferson, our first Secretary of State started off with a very small staff and absolutely no knowledge.
There are 285 diplomatic facilities, 65,000 employees and only 195 countries in this world. We have far too many employees in State.
