With his public alarmed by President Trumps recent threats to North Korea, President Moon Jae-in of South Korea issued an unusually blunt rebuke to the United States on Tuesday, warning that any unilateral military action against the North over its nuclear weapons program would be intolerable.
No one should be allowed to decide on a military action on the Korean Peninsula without South Korean agreement, Mr. Moon said in a nationally televised speech.
As a candidate for the presidency, Mr. Moon, a liberal who took office in May, said he would say no to the Americans if necessary. But he has aligned South Korea more closely with its military ally than many had expected. Though he suspended the deployment of a United States missile defense system opposed by China, he reversed that decision last month after North Korea tested two intercontinental ballistic missiles.

That’s not possible.
The South is not worried about losing a war with North Korea. They are worried about having a war with North Korea because a million people could die in the first 24 hours.
Good. Let’s withdraw all our forces from South Korea and let it handle any threat against it from the Norks.
Online, ya c@nnot see whether or not his lips are moving...in this case, it doesn’t matter anyway...........
When their psycho neighbor to the north threatens the U.S. its territories and other nations, the approval of South Korea to protect our interests is moot.
Sorry, Mr. Moon — if we are the target, we decide.
Let the Norks fire a few missiles at Guam and see how fast we respond. All I can tell this SK President is DUCK!!!
Maybe we should retrench to Japan, Taiwan and the PI with Pershing II’s and THAAD.
Leave the South to their own devices.
But they should be aware: The US now has a strategic, existential interest in disarming Norklandia. Completely.
The South can join us, or they can go their own way. Either way we don’t givva sh!t.
Yep. They really only have 2 choices .
Accept help from those who are able and willing.
Or live as a North Korean.
Beggars cant be choosers and all that....
All meant for public consumption.
Ok fair enough. We would hate to offend you, South Korea.
Let’s go ahead and bring our troops, equipment, and all anti-missile defenses back to US territory. If you don’t want our help, we don’t want to be a bother. And frankly it is costing a lot of money we could spend on other things closer to home.
We’ll send you a bill for the last 60 years worth of defense.
And when the North Koreans invade again, you can just go ahead and defend yourselves.
How’s that sound, hmm?
Notice the torturously twisted writing to make it look like ROK is standing apart from the US - which it is not
Japan also came out string and ready
Of course ROK politicians can afford to talk publicly like appeasers while privately being assured we and Japan have their back
I would trust the NYT spin.
And I don’t expect the administration to “rub the Nork noses in it” for backing off. They may be giving them a bit of rope here to save face and letting South Korea do the lifting. Who knows...could we possibly see a united Korea before all of it is over?
US: We are attacking North Korea in 2 minutes.
South Korea: We agree.
The South Korean faker can say that now, since, after Trump’s blunt public diplomacy the dictator in North Korea has backed off his missile launch.
Listen, ya little punk, liberal worms like you got a lot of innocent good men and women killed not so long ago.. you probably weren’t even born then.. so STFU.
Yes it is possible. We should pull our military out and bulldoze our buildings on every post and base.
Oh, can you provide your own defense now? I am sure we can pull out and use our resources elsewhere!
Correction to above.. I would NOT TRUST the NYT spin...evah.
