Skip to comments.NY Times: Trump Threat to Obamacare Would Send Premiums and Deficit Skyward

Premiums for the most popular health insurance plans would shoot up 20 percent next year, and federal budget deficits would increase by $194 billion in the coming decade if President Trump carries out his threat to end certain subsidies paid to insurance companies for the benefit of low-income people, the Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday.
The subsidies reimburse insurers for reducing deductibles, co-payments and other out-of-pocket costs that low-income people pay when they visit doctors, fill prescriptions or receive care in hospitals.
Even before efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act collapsed in the Senate last month, Mr. Trump began threatening to cut off the subsidies, called cost-sharing reductions. He said the health care law would "implode" and Democrats would have no choice but to negotiate a replacement plan. Mr. Trump described his strategy as, "Let Obamacare implode, then deal."

Us libtards figure that it's going to cost the government a lot more money to make people pay their own medical bills than it will to hand out big bucks to giant insurance companies ... and that's why people call us fake news.
I go to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions. The customer of color in front of me is told they have a $10 co-pay for their medicines. They refuse the medications but then go buy lottery tickets.
It’s set up so voters don’t see the taxes they pay for the subsidies... but do see the premium increases that would replace the subsidies.
Dems are evil, not stupid.
Of course the ‘middle class’ pay out way more in taxes than they receive in premium reduction.
The New York Times: Leftist-propaganda rag since at least the 1930s.
I assume their headlines will say Trump’s responsible for rising costs of Obamacare soon.
LOL...Obama effed over the entire industry and premiums have been racing ahead about 40% a year. So a 20% premium hike would be a SAVINGS of 50% compared to O’Care.
Your pic of the NYT author says it all.
It is us who will have to pay way more. The ruling elite lifetime voter base....not so much. The invaders, nope. Just us.
Democrat Talking Points:
Trump repeals Obamacare: people die!
Trump replaces Obamacare: people die!
Trump leaves Obamacare in place: people die!
It’s all about single payer.
You’re right. The middle class get screwed. I predict Trump will continue the payoffs to the insurance companies in order to reduce the cost of health insurance to those who got suckered into Obamacare, at least in the short term.
What he should do ASAP is remove the exemption from Obamacare that Congress and their staffers get. That would be a darn good start.
I have seen many refuse pills over X $’s. Sad.
Remove all subsidies to crony-capitalist insurance companies, and make Congress and all Federal employees fully subject to all requirements of Obamacare.
Do it today, Mr. President.
Can someone tell me how federal budget deficits go up when government subsidies are cut?
They're already saying it.Just recently a Rat politician (can't recall which one) made that very claim. Didn't take long.
Hey! I get it now!
We’re the just us department
Alinsky’s rule #8
I assume their headlines will say Trumps responsible for rising costs of Obamacare soon.
News has become memes
? NO threat, just letting the law work as passed.

I’d like to know too.
Obamacare, as conceived and designed solely by Democrats needs absolutely no help from Presidenf Trump for premiums to continue to soar. The soaring costs are systemic to what the Democrats voted for without a single Republican vote.
