Skip to comments.Poll: 43 Percent of GOP Voters Want Government Shutdown to Build Trump-Promised Border Wall

President Donald Trumps base of supporters wants the federal government to shut down unless a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border is constructed as promised.
A new Morning Consult/Politico poll shows that roughly 43 percent of Republican voters say they would like to see the GOP-led Congress stand firm on the border wall by shutting down the government unless the project is fully funded so that it can be quickly constructed.
Americans were promised at Trumps swearing-in that a border wall would be constructed on the southern border to stop illegal immigration and drug trafficking by a number of Mexican cartels. The project, though, has yet to begin, as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has routinely prolonged it.
While Trumps core base of supporters wants to see the border wall built soon, they are still very much opposed to giving amnesty to illegal aliens, an issue that Trump promised never to support unless pro-American immigration reforms to end illegal immigration and reduce legal immigration are enacted beforehand.

I would guess it is more than 43%.
I’ll say that number is low by about half.
Shut it down, and leave it shut down until the wall is complete.
No more dead Americans on the altar of illegal Democrat voters.
I honestly think its MUCH higher than 43%. Polls died in Nov. 2016.
I doubt this “poll” is actually a real poll at all.
Progressives seem unable to learn lol.
Government shutfown. The only job the federal government exists for is protection of the nation
They should shut down and do nothing but build the freaking wall
Of course its higher than 43%. Its publisged by the people running interference for the coup that the government is funding
Its as high as the majority who voted for Trump plus the very high percentage of people who will not yet admit they support him
Yep. They can count me in.
“The project, though, has yet to begin...”
Not entirely true. Congress has allocated some money already, and prototypes have been built on the California / Mexican border. I heard private land is being acquired along parts of the border.
43%,BS Its probably twice that number.
If it takes a shutdown to get the Republican majority in both houses to build the wall, it's time for the shooting to start. Thanks Cheerio.
Just BUILD the WALL,
And STOP them ALL!
