if the truth were to be told, Saddam likely did have a hand in 9/11, the 93 WTC, and he sent the anthrax.

I made this very point in another thread. What we have here a yet another Democrap attempt to rewrite history in real time. This is clearly a talking points initiative - just keep claiming that "Bush told us Saddam was responsible for 9/11 and he lied to us again". Do it enough times, get it on Peter Jennings enough times and it will become "the truth".

And no Republican politicians will stand up and say, "That's a lie." If the democrats can smear and slander and make nasty untruthful accusations, why can't our guys stand up and make nasty truthful accusations in return? Geez.

Everyone has provided great analysis and understands the not-so-subtle bias in the press. But we're preaching to the choir here.

We need to write letters to the editor, e-mail our newspapers, etc., pointing out many of the things we've mentioned here. E-mail makes it easy and so many of you are so articulate, I'd love to see it taken to the next level beyond FR. (slight begging sound!!)

public support is as high as its going to be at 60+% on this issue, the Dem base will never get behind this issue, even relatives of people killed in the WTC will likely be voting against Bush. To hell with them, let's just move forward with the people we have on these issue, its enough, and economic issues are more important to the "soggy" middle.

The RNC plays nicey-nice and it doesn't get them any points or make distinctions understood.

Why the conservatives fail to defend themselves will forever remain one of life's mysteries to me.

Ronald Reagan understood the necessity of educating the public, early and often, before the serious damage was done by the press.

Our side has tried to set the record straight .. but the libs like Chrissy Mathews keep repeating it any how and totally ignores the person talking

As for telling lies like the libs.

1. I don't want to get in the sewer with them

2. Don't have to make up stories .. We have the truth

The libs have learned that the facts do not affect Bush's popularity.

Now, they have to re-write history like they have done so often in the past.

Same tactic as the 2000 election. Tell people a lie often enough and it takes on the status of the truth.

That is exactly what we need to do .. We are the ratings and we need to nail them every time they tell bogus lies

Not really germane to this thread, but I have to ask all the smarties out there, do you sometimes feel like Agent Kuyan after he finds out that Verbal Kint is really Keyser Soze? Do you really think that you're smarter than Kint? :-)

I agree. I didn't say that our side should tell lies. We don't have to. We can and should counter thier lies with truthful accusations about their dirty deeds. I would be as disgusted with the right as I am with the left if they got down in the gutter with them.

The author of this article seems to not make the distinction between linkage between al Qaeda and Iraq and whether or not OBL and Saddam Hussein colluded to cause 9/11. There's a world of difference but the author has done their best to dilute that difference.

Exactly.

Sorry, but it is not a "new" talking point.

This administration has been consistant, but mischaracterized by certain media types.

Thanks for the link.

As to rebuttal, how about quoting President Bush, who, from the very beginning of the War on Terror, declared we would make no distinction between the terrorists and those who harbor them.

who the heck said Saddam was behind 9/11?? there is a difference.

Well, a bunch of people are saying now that the U.S. said this as a pretext for going to war with Iraq. I heard some ditz call in on WLS and say that she thought we acted too quickly and that we were using 9/11 as an excuse to go into Iraq in order to go after someone. I yelled, "You moron [well, I yelled something else], have you forgotten Afghanistan and UBL?"
