From Reversal of Fortune, about Claus Von Bulow. A scene shows Claus’ girlfriend (IIRC) with Claus and lawyer Alan Dershowitz, whose book inspired the film. Girlfriend, who had urged Claus to hire Alan:

Girlfriend: So I kept saying, Claus, get the Jew...

Dershowitz (played by conservative Ron Silver): (Beat pause)
Can ‘The Jew’ get down to business..?

The state colors—TV coverage of elections started using the state colors in Presidential years in 76 and at first Republicans were blue.Youtube showed NBC in 80 with a “swimming pool” of the many blue states for Reagan.Later they switched and supposedly red went to GOP as alliteration,”Republican red”..though they wanted to portray Dems as being for blue collar workers.
Many Trump signs and stickers are blue though.

Audiobook of Pierre Boule’s Planet of the Apes is narrated by a Britisher. At the start and the end, we meet a married couple aboard a spaceship who discover a manuscript by the astronaut who was the human Taylor (Heston in the film). At the end the couple dismisses the manuscript as fiction.

The British narrator speaks the dialogue of the married couple in an American accent.

The couple, we find at the end, are apes.(Villains in the story, in most cases...)

Anthropogenic—”man caused” global warming—yes “climate change” may exist but we are tiny fleas—tiny microbes—on the planet as a whole.

Look out the window on a plane trip and see how huge this country, this world, is. How can we tiny specks be the cause of such change?

A liberal comedian put it well (and yes, despite being liberal): “Everyone’s saying save the planet, save the world. The planet will be fine. It’s just going through its Lose The Humans program.” (Caused by the world, not the people...)Or maybe he’s saying we are to blame...

Saw movie Downsizing (thankfully only paid $6 for it). Yeah, Matt Damon shrinks to 5 inches tall and so do a bunch of other people concerned about wasteful people. At first it seemed like a spoof of the whole climate change hysteria. They all wind up in a mini city, Leisureland, where there’s a huge dome and everything is set to their scale...

Then the film turns from a comedy to preaching global warming. ONE scientist predicts the release of methane from the one of the poles will kill off all human beings, he says. Based on that, many of the shrunken people decide to go into an underground utopia. Needless to say, this film—and the sequel to An Inconvenient Truth, which thankfully I did not see, both BOMBED at the box office.
(Friggin’ Jim Verniere of the Boston Herald gave Downsizing a B plus. Shoulda known, the moonbat...)

Colonial New England. Paul Revere and Sam Adams are gathered at a friend’s house enduring a blizzard.

“You know,” the friend says, “this blizzard, and last year’s hurricane? It’s all our fault. It’s global warming caused by man.”

Prehistoric times, Ugg and Groo are in a cave during a nasty blizzard.
“You know,” says one of their caveman friends, “this blizzard, last year’s mighty wind storm, glaciers melting—it all our fault. Man cause climate change.”

  • Berkeley-based Pacifica Radio faces financial crisis

More from Fybush—Jan 2 edition of North East Radio Watch at fybush.com:
“This, however, is Pacifica – and so what would be obvious anywhere else is rather more complex. Pacifica’s national board met on Dec. 28 to consider a plea from its interim executive director to take the big step of filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The idea was sound: bankruptcy would give the board some time to plot out an orderly swap of the WBAI signal (still likely worth anywhere from $35 to $50 million on the open market, we’d guess), pay off whatever debts couldn’t be discharged by bankruptcy, and stabilize the remainder of Pacifica that would remain.

But did we mention this is Pacifica? The board went into executive session and emerged without having taken any action. (Why? One suspects the representatives of each Pacifica station’s local boards didn’t want a bankruptcy trustee dissolving those boards, which have long exercised more power than the national board.)

And so Pacifica and WBAI stumble into 2018. In the absence of bankruptcy or an agreement on a New York signal swap (would it have been to Cumulus, for the Bronx-based signal of WNBM 103.9 – or to EMF, for the Westchester-based signal of WKLV 96.7?), the next plan appears to involve hitting the subprime lending markets, taking out a loan on the real estate of Pacifica’s Los Angeles station, KPFK, raising quick cash to pay off the ESRT judgment. After that, the logic seems to run, Pacifica could then move forward on a New York swap, pay back the loan (at 9.75% interest!) and somehow stabilize itself.

If that doesn’t all come to pass, what’s next? We predicted the endgame in this space a few months ago: with the power of the courts behind it, at some point ESRT will pull the trigger and begin moving to seize Pacifica assets. That could be the real estate in LA or Berkeley, or it could eventually be the 99.5 license. And if that ends up in a bankruptcy auction sometime in 2018, with Entercom, Cumulus, Emmis and perhaps even Univision all potential bidders… at that point, we’d probably have our top story of the year.

Trivia: it was WBAI who aired George Carlin’s Seven Dirty Words routine; objected to by a member of Morality in Media who heard the bit with his son.It led to a court case.

“This decision formally established indecency regulation in American broadcasting. In follow-up rulings, the Supreme Court established the safe harbor provision that grants broadcasters the right to broadcast indecent (but not obscene) material between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am, when it is presumed many children will be asleep. The FCC has never maintained a specific list of words prohibited from the airwaves during the time period from 6 am to 10 pm.”—Wikipedia

    Scott Fybush NorthEast Radio Watch:
“Our story so far: after years of management turmoil, WBAI ended 2017 in the worst shape it’s been in during 57 years of Pacifica’s ownership. It had lost its lower Manhattan studio space several years earlier, finally landing in Brooklyn after operating from borrowed studios. Its programming had become even more fractured than usual, its fundraising anemic, and its payments to Pacifica’s national office had fallen behind schedule.

“That’s no worse than anything WBAI had weathered time and again, but the difference this time was 1400 feet above midtown Manhattan, where the rent was also becoming increasingly overdue in the one place it absolutely, positively had to be paid on time. For while WBAI could survive from makeshift studios with iffy programming, it couldn’t survive if it lacked a transmitter site – and the Empire State Realty Trust (ESRT) was getting increasingly impatient as WBAI’s backlog for its transmitter rent crept past the million-dollar mark.”

Urban legend that reggae came about when it was too damn hot to play and the ska musicians slowed down.

Ska/reggae have accents on the second and fourth beats and you may notice this influence on New Orleans music. Those in NOLA could hear music from Caribbean radio stations...
