What kind of a person doesn’t have a Facebook account? #DeleteFacebook is trending, but will people actually do it? Even given the recent brouhaha over Facebook’s privacy violations affecting 50 million people, that’s unlikely. If you deactivate your account, or even just stop posting updates for a couple of weeks, Facebook has a virtual army — your Facebook friends — who will text, email and even find you on Twitter asking what’s wrong and imploring you to come back. With some 2.2 billion users worldwide, it would take a tectonic shift for people to delete their photos and walk away....

  • Tombstone school district posts signs warning that staff might be armed

A prominently displayed sign at all three Tombstone Unified School District campuses is getting a lot of attention. The decision to post a warning at the entrance of the school sites — “Some TUSD staff may be armed and will use whatever force necessary to protect our students” — was made by TUSD Superintendent Robert Devere. “This is nothing more than one small piece of school safety that we have in place on our campuses,” Devere said. “We’re interested in keeping our kids safe. What I’ve seen on Facebook has been overwhelmingly positive.” Check back for more updates, and read...

Roll up your selves because the truth is getting deep! When Able Reyna lost the primary election, a great sense of relief came down like a down pour of rain from heaven for those who are involved with the Twin Peaks atrocity. A sense of permission to take off the suit of armor of determination and fight for Justice against the incestuous justice system of Waco Texas. This sounds redundant but it is so true. Pacified that there is truly light at the end of this dark tunnel, many of us writers like myself are dumb founded with the silence...

Facebook’s mini-crash — the company’s stock is down over 13% in three days — is a reminder that even red-hot FAANG stocks can fall. Facebook FB, -0.08% took the stairs up and the elevator down. Did the Facebook shock just offer a glimpse into stock market future? Read on, and I’ll explain. Mean reversion Let’s not forget that Facebook’s stock is still up 865% since its 2012 low. For most of the past five years, Facebook has been trending higher in a well-defined trend channel. Let’s call this the “mean.” In July 2017, Facebook jumped above the trend channel and...

GLENDALE, Wis. — An incorrect order at a Glendale McDonald's restaurant over the weekend led a customer to shove a teen employee into a fryer, police said. It happened Sunday morning at the restaurant on Port Washington Road. The female customer was arrested Wednesday, Glendale police said. "Instead of acting like most people would act, she lost it," Glendale Officer Todd Lynch said. The surveillance video released to WISN 12 NEWS shows the customer receiving her order at the drive-thru window. Instead of receiving the bacon biscuit she wanted, the customer mistakenly received a sausage biscuit. She's seen tossing the...
  • Michelle Obama had a girls’ night out in Miami. She hit one of the hottest spots, obviously.

We had political royalty in Miami Tuesday night. Former First Lady Michelle Obama had a ladies night out at Seaspice. Executive chef Angel Leon was tasked with preparing a curated six course menu featuring the highlights of the riverside restaurant’s special menu. Other guests at the meal included Debra Lee, CEO of BET Networks; former presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett; and Tracy Mourning. Earlier they had been attending the Leading Women Defined conference in Miami Beach. Obama, seated on a private outdoor terrace, dined on oysters, caviar stone crabs, 1855 prime ribeye. For dessert: tres leches. We ‘re sure the ex...

Over 800 people turned out Wednesday night for a book signing by Chelsea Clinton at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena. Clinton signed copies of her children’s book sequel, “She Persisted Around the World,” a follow up to her original #1 New York Times best-selling picture book, “She Persisted.” Its publishers say that “She Persisted Around the World” is a book for everyone who has ever aimed high and been told to step down, for everyone who has ever raised their voice and been told to quiet down, and for everyone who has ever felt small, unimportant or unworthy.
  • Nobody Wanted to Give Up the M-1 Carbine - Classic weapon endured through three big American wars

A grim-faced U.S. Army major led a group of armed men away from a tropical village he decided not to attack. Wearing jungle boots and olive-drab battle dress, Edwin Brooks grasped a lightweight, reliable, .30-caliber weapon in his right hand as he walked. It was an M-1 carbine. The scene could have been anywhere in the South Pacific during World War II or somewhere near the Pusan Perimeter during the Korean War. But Brooks also wore a green beret with a Special Forces flash and he was leaving the then-South Vietnamese village of Ban Me Thuot in 1964, leading the...

Cabbie blamed Uber, Lyft for financial woes before hanging himself A yellow-cab driver hanged himself because of financial ruin that he blamed on ride-hail apps such as Uber and Lyft — the fourth such suicide in the last four months, authorities said Wednesday. Nicanor Ochisor, 65, was found in the garage of his Maspeth, Queens, home by his adult son on Friday, according to Richard Lipsky of the Taxi Medallion Owners and Drivers Association. Ochisor is the first medallion owner to end his life over the flagging industry, he said. Ochisor backed his home mortgage on his medallion, and planned...

SĂO PAULO—With “jewel-tone eyes,” blond hair and a “smattering of light freckles,” Othello looks nothing like most Brazilians, the majority of whom are black or mixed-race. Yet the “Caucasian” American cashier, described in those terms by the Seattle Sperm Bank and known as Donor 9601, is one of the sperm providers most often requested by wealthy Brazilian women importing the DNA of young U.S. men at unprecedented rates. Over the past seven years, human semen imports from the U.S. to Brazil have surged some 3,000% as more rich single women and lesbian couples select donors whose online profiles suggest they...

According to a new study, subscriptions to streaming TV services exploded by 450 percent in less than a decade. This has resulted in surge of cord-cutting, those who cancel their cable or satellite packages (pay TV). The result is that pay TV household penetration has collapsed from a years-long hold of 75 percent, to just 63 percent in 2017. In 2009, only 10 percent of homes subscribed to a streaming TV service (Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc.). By 2017, that number surged to 55 percent, or a 450 percent increase.

James Biden isn’t a big name in the business of residential housing development, so what exactly qualifies him to work at a construction company and share in the winnings of a $1.5 billion project to build affordable homes in Iraq? If you said it has something to do with his last name, the one shared by his older brother Vice President Joe Biden, you wouldn’t be far off. ---snip--- James Biden’s obvious value comes from his connection to the Obama administration

Full Title: Illegal immigrants, who dodged California ICE raid after Dem mayor's tip-off, re-arrested for new crimes Three illegal immigrants, who avoided capture after Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf blew the whistle on a raid by federal immigration authorities last month, have since been re-arrested for new crimes including robbery and spousal abuse, ICE officials said. snip ICE officials eventually caught 232 illegal immigrants, many of them criminals, in the four-day sweep but said that hundreds more escaped because of Schaaf’s warning. But on Tuesday, officials said that at least three of those who were targeted in the raid, but were...

NEW YORK (AP) — Whether Royal, Charlie or Salem, Skyler, Justice or Oakley, unisex names for babies are on the rise among parents more willing than ever to embrace the possibility of gender fluidity in their children and attempt to head off sexism on their behalf. “We’re definitely seeing more conversation today around the distinction of a truly gender-neutral name,” said Linda Murray, global editor-in-chief of “This generation is truly interested in gender neutral names.” The Social Security Administration puts out a top 10 list of popular baby names every year based on its registrations, but it also keeps...
