Film director Rob Reiner says that those who vote Republican at the upcoming midterm elections are endorsing the “destruction” of America’s democracy. In a tweet on Monday, Reiner made a rallying cry for people to vote for Democratic candidates instead of their Republican counterparts, who he described as sexist, racist, and anti-democratic. “Let’s be clear. At this point in our history, a vote for a Republican is a vote for institutional racism, sexism and a vote to enable the destruction of Democracy,” Reiner wrote on Twitter. “To Democrats: VOTE! To principled Republicans: VOTE DEMOCRATIC!”

This week, President Trump will announce his nominee to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the United States Supreme Court. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised to schedule the nominee’s confirmation hearings for this fall, before the midterm elections. If and when McConnell carries through on this promise, Senate Democrats should immediately file a federal lawsuit against him for violating the so-called “McConnell Rule.”.....

WASHINGTON (AP) — Special counsel Robert Mueller’s grand jury is investigating a prominent Democratic lobbyist and a former GOP congressman for their involvement in an influence campaign on behalf of Ukrainian interests tied to Paul Manafort, according to a person with direct knowledge of the investigation. At the center of the widening probe are Tony Podesta, a longtime Democratic operative, and Vin Weber, a former GOP congressman and leader of his own high-powered lobbying firm, Mercury LLC. The two men were hired as part of a multimillion-dollar lobbying effort directed by Manafort and longtime associate Rick Gates.

Our friend Howard Root attended the Trump rally in Duluth last night. This is his (fantastic) report along with photos he took at the event (at the top and bottom below): At least 25 percent of the audience was under the age of 30, and around 40 percent were women. The senior citizen percentage was less than 10 percent — the lowest I’ve ever seen at a Republican event. Other than the hundred or so party leaders, this was a vastly different crowd from the Minnesota Republican Convention that I attended in Duluth three weeks ago. None of the attendees...

America’s largest Protestant group moves to cut ties with the Republican Party and re-engage with mainstream culture. It was immediately clear that change was afoot in Dallas. I’ve attended the annual gatherings of the Southern Baptist Convention dozens of times, but walking around the convention center this week, I was struck by how unfamiliar it all felt. When I was a child, the convention hall was a sea of silver combovers and smelled of denture paste. While the older, more traditionalist crowd was still present in Dallas, the younger, fresh-faced attendees now predominated. “The generational shift happening in the SBC...
  • Vanity - Vote for Republican/Conservative, Corey Stewart for Senate in Virginia.

Corey Stewart is the Republican candidate facing "Dim Bulb" Democrat, Senator Tim Kaine for the Senate seat in Virginia. I have no doubt that Stewart will run a terrific, pro-active, effective campaign against the failed, Hillary Clinton, VP choice..."the well known, asleep at the wheel, deadbeat, Democrat, Tim Kaine". Rumblings are heard that the Establishment GOP Senate campaign group will not fund the Stewart race. It's hard to believe....but Stewart can defeat Tim Kaine. It's amazing, because if Stewart takes down Kaine early in the evening of election day, the entire country (who will still be voting) will witness a...

President Trump on Thursday expressed optimism about the Republican Party's poll numbers as the GOP erases deficits in a number of generic ballot surveys. "The Republican Party is starting to show very big numbers. People are starting to see what is being done. Results are speaking loudly. North Korea and our greatest ever economy are leading the way!" Trump tweeted. ETC...

Tuesday brought another set of primaries across the country — in Maine, South Carolina, Nevada, North Dakota and Virginia — and another set of surprises. Here are the night's winners and losers. Winners President Trump: It's overly simplistic to say that South Carolina GOP congressman Mark Sanford lost his primary Tuesday because of Trump. But Trump was definitely a factor in making Sanford the second House Republican in 2018 to lose a primary. The president sent off this remarkably caustic tweet on Tuesday afternoon, as voters in South Carolina were getting off work and going to vote.

Republican businessman John Cox, who stunned the political world last week by placing second in the California primary and securing a spot on the November ballot, said Monday that President Donald Trump will campaign for him in California. The Los Angeles Times reports: Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox said Monday that President Trump would travel to California to campaign for him in his bid to defeat Democrat Gavin Newsom in the November general election. “Gavin Newsom is going to make this race all about President Trump. Well, you know what, I welcome it,” Cox told GOP supporters at a hotel...

Folks, it's Primary Elections galore this coming Tuesday. There are so many states holding primary elections this coming week, they are too numerous to mention. Of course, California is the number one biggie, but much more is afoot as to how the political winds are blowing, Oncoming "Blue wave or Blue wave trickle". We shall see. The preceding small numbers of primaries have already shown a very low turnout and disappointment of Democrat voters....Republicans seem to be doing OK...but, much needs to be revealed this coming Tuesday as to the real nature and path of the Mid-Term elections. It will...

The world's most powerful search engine listed “Nazism” as the ideology of the California Republican Party—a week before the GOP primary. Companies, like people, make mistakes. And Google came fire on Thursday for making a big one. As first reported by Vice, the powerful search engine company listed “Nazism” as the ideology of the California Republican Party—less than a week before the GOP’s primary. Needless to say, Republicans were not pleased. “It is disgraceful that the world’s largest search engine has labeled millions of California Republicans as Nazis,” said Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California, the House Majority Leader. “This...

Garrett, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, first told the Washington Post of his decision. The freshman Republican’s announcement came five days after a bizarre news conference in which he insisted he’d be coming back to Congress in 2019.

I did an Ixquick search, which uses Google, for information on Oregon Republican governor candidates. I got sites for democrats. I kept changing my search words but kept getting Kate Brown or democrat sites. I even put "Republican" in twice on each end of the search. I knew Ixquick used Google but just hid your ID. As Californians are painfully aware, the Democrat Stronghold of Sacramento this year levied upon them an additional gasoline tax that soaks motorists for nearly twenty cents per gallon. Yes, on its face, it's "only" twelve cents per gallon, but nothing in Sacramento is as it appears. Democrats inserted language that alters the way that tax is calculated, and that little bit of typical Democrat chicanery accounts for the difference between what they say, and what drivers actually pay. As fewer Californians know, Reform California, with Carl DeMaio as Chairman, is leading the push to place an Initiative on the November...

There is a huge opinion schism between conservatives inside the Beltway who think a midterm Democrat tsunami is coming, and many conservatives outside the swamp, in America, who are not so sure. One thing is certain – the gimp box media and the left’s Fredcon enablers are working overtime to psych us out and make defeat a done deal. But nothing is a done deal. We have six months. The Republicans just need to get smart and fight.Oh. Well, we’re doomed. But maybe not. There’s always hope for an upset – just ask President Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit.First, the bad news....

Few Republicans in Washington are willing to go head-to-head with President Trump, but there is one band of GOP members willing to stand up to the leader of their own party: lawmakers who have announced their retirements. While it’s not uncommon for members to feel far more liberated on their way out the door, it has taken on a whole new meaning in the Trump era, where lawmakers are confronted daily by a never-ending stream of White House controversies. The GOP’s retirement caucus has provided some of the most biting commentary on the president in recent months, with Rep. Ryan...

Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) announced Friday that he is resigning from Congress immediately after facing a backlash over using $84,000 in taxpayer funds to settle a sexual harassment claim. "While I planned on serving out the remainder of my term in Congress, I know in my heart it's time for me to move along and look for new ways to serve," Farenthold said in a statement. The abrupt resignation is effective as of 5 p.m. on Friday, according to his office. Lauren Greene, the congressman's former communications director, sued her boss over allegations he fostered a hostile work environment where...
